MOURINHO SURPRISED BY OMISSION
Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has said that he is extremely surprised that the former England midfielder David Beckham was not selected for the London Olympics 2012 by the manager of Team GB Stuart Pearce.

He was expected to be part of the squad, but was left out at the last moment by the manager Stuart Pearce. This decision has baffled Real Madrid manager José Mourinho, who has said that David Beckham would have been a huge morale boost for the rest of the players at this tournament.
The Real Madrid manager was speaking on the occasion of the pre-season friendly match between the two clubs. Real Madrid might have thrashed LA Galaxy by a lot of goals, but the manager José Mourinho is extremely surprised that a quality midfielder like David Beckham has been left out of the squad. The Portuguese manager might not have faced David Beckham has managed a lot of times, but he has seen plenty of the 35-year-old to suggest that he would be a valuable addition to the squad in a major tournament.
"There is something I don’t understand. If now the Olympic Games are in London, it is because of Beckham. I know, because I was also inside of that project. It’s because of Sebastian Coe and other people, but he was the most important face of that project. I don’t understand why he is not playing. I cannot understand. He is one of the best football professionals. I’m so sorry he’s not there," said the Real Madrid manager after the 5-1 defeat of LA Galaxy. The former Chelsea manager has said that he is close to finishing his revamp of the Real Madrid squad.
