DORTMUND'S LINGARD INTEREST COULD FAVOR UNITED
West Ham United midfielder Jesse Lingard, who is currently on loan at the club from League rivals Manchester United, is emerging as a surprise transfer target for German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund. The England international midfielder has enjoyed one of the pest periods in his career in the last few months after sealing his loan move away from United and to West Ham last summer.
Since moving to the London club, Lingard has had a remarkable turnaround in his career. In his first nine games for the club, he was able to score ten goals and also registered four assists. His spectacular form was enough to earn him a recall to the England national team by the Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate.
In his first game for England after a long time off, he was also among the goals and scored a fine strike as well.
His contributions have been pivotal in fueling West Ham's push for a top 4 finish in their aim to compete in Europe next season. David Moyes is a huge admirer of the midfielder and is said to be interested in trying to convince United to let him leave the club permanently this summer. The Hammers' interest in signing Lingard permanently from the Red Devils has sparked talks of a bid of around £18 million.
However, West Ham now have huge competition according to the latest reports as Dortmund have now entered the picture .The German club have expressed their desire to sign Lingard and it could prove to be a great bit of business for the two clubs, with Manchester United having the opportunity to negotiate for a swap deal that will finally see Jadon Sancho move to Old Trafford. United have a long-standing interest in the winger and they could finally beat down the £100 million price tag by offering Lingard in a swap deal.
