CHELSEA CLOSE IN ON TRANSFER TARGETS

Chelsea are closing in on Kai Havertz, Malang Sarr, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva. According to reports there may be other new additions heading towards the Stamford Bridge door. Frank Lampard took over from Mauricio Sarri last season and is reworking the team to his taste.

The Blues legend was unable to add new faces to his squad as the club was facing a two-window transfer ban. The ban was halved last December after the club won their appeal at Court if Arbitration for Sport. Despite their ban being lifted Chelsea didn't make any addition during the January transfer window as Lampard was left to manoeuvre the club with academy graduates and players returning from loan spells. Chelsea have built a huge transfer budget since then.

The club has not made any investments in the past two windows, coupled with fees they got from the sale of Eden Hazard from Real Madrid. Chelsea are ready to reinvest in the club who finished fourth last season. The defence has been the major concern for Lampard and he is determined to reform a backline that conceded 54 goals last season. The pursuit of Sarr and Silva is expected to help bolster their defence.

Sarr, 21, is held in high regard in France. He left Nice when his contract expired in June and has since attracted interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal. But it seems the Blues have won the race for the towering center back.
Sarr will be joined by Silva at the center of defence. The Brazilian international is expected to join the Blues after accepting a two-year deal with the West Lindon club.
Various reports have also claimed that the Blues have reached a £50 million agreement Leicester City left Ben Chilwell. An official announcement for the England international before the end of the week.
